In this study, we investigate the trend of precipitation of North Carolina between 1950 and 2011. To do so, the rate of change of precipitation in North Carolina over time will be evaluated using each rain gauge station in North Carolina. The linear model, as well as the linear mixed model, will be utilized in this research and the latter includes both fixed and random effects and is essentially an extension of the linear model. Due to this method of analysis not yet being used when evaluating the trend of precipitation the comparative aspect of this research is paramount to further understanding these trends of precipitation.
